Voting

Every paying ticket holder will be given a single vote to place for the band of their choice.

Voting information will be provided prior to the event and any attempts to circumvent this method will result in disqualification.

Set Start and End Times

You will be informed of set start and end times prior to the show. While staff will be available to aid you in getting gear on and off the stage, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are ready to start your set at your allotted time.

When your set is complete, do not loiter on stage. It is important that you clear your gear and yourselves from the stage area as quickly as possible. Staff will be available to help with this.

An isolated set up area will be provided to allow you to configure your gear before getting on stage. Please ensure you make use of this. Late set start times will result in a shorter set. Naturally, extenuating circumstances will be taken into account.

Set Length

Each set must be between 25 and 30 minutes long. Due to the tight turnaround times we are working to, set times will be strictly adhered to. Our sound technician has been instructed to cut the audio of any band that is disrespecting this requirement and this may result in disqualification.

Cover requirement

All entrants are required to play at least one cover in their set. This cover must be more than a minute long. The song must also be available on streaming platforms such as Spotify.

Covers do not have to be an exact reproduction, we encourage creativity. The purpose of this is to help audience members who are not familiar with you to hear something they are more familiar with in your own style.

Guest lists and comps

There will be No Guest List for any heats or the finals. Band members/artists will be provided with entry wrist bands but fans and those supporting the acts will be expected to purchase a ticket either in advance or on the door.

Respectful behaviour

As part of this event, we ask every act show respect to other acts whilst playing. We ask that if you are bringing people, you stick around and watch the other acts as they will have watched you. Let’s pack out these shows, work together and take the time to network. You may make some new friends and contact.

Despite the competitive nature of a Battle of the Bands, combative behaviour is unacceptable. Support eachother as much as you can and may the best artist win!

Obviously inflamatory language about individuals and groups is not permitted at any time during the event and will result in disqualification and potential ejection from the venue.

Age Restrictions

Battle Royale is open to fans and participants of all ages. Those who wish to participate or attend, and are under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18.

Your accompanying responsible adult must purchase an event ticket and be present at the venue throughout your time at the venue.

If you are participating and require an accompanying responsible adult, this adult will be permitted into the venue during sound checks.

We ask that you limit any additional attendees as much as possible during set up and tear down to make life easier for the venue staff and event team.

Those who are under the age of 18 must avoid the bar areas around the venue (both downstairs and upstairs) and must not attempt to illegally purchase alcohol. Attempting to do so will result in your ejection from the venue and, if relevant, disqualification from the event.

Due to the potential for younger fans to be in the audience, we also ask that you consider the profanity used in your set. We understand that mistakes happen and the odd word dropped in by accident happens, but entire songs made up of profanity are likely to be a problem.

Outside Food & Drinks

Mama Liz's is not only a venue but a bar and restaurant. Due to this, outside food and drink is not permitted except in the following circumstances:

Health & Safety

We ask that all acts whilst playing or walking around the venue, follow health and safety rules and show respect to the venue. Please do not act inappropriately or put other people at risk.

Sponsorship Access to Artists

As a participant in Battle Royale, you may be required to interact with sponsors and be involved in reasonable promotional activities. Any sponsorship activity will incur no cost to you and you will be compensated for any additional costs incurred as a result of your participation.

Rights of the organiser

Battle Royale and its team reserve the right to disqualify any artist. We will endeavour to provide a clear reason for disqualification but this decision will be final.

If you are unsure about any of these rules, please contact chris@battle-royale.co.uk.
